As part of continued growth, they are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their R&D team.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing mechanical structures and thermal management solutions for advanced electronic power supply products.
Working closely with electronics engineers, manufacturing, quality, and production teams, you will ensure products meet performance, manufacturability, quality, safety, and cost objectives while supporting the complete product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical structures and thermal management solutions for electronic power products.
- Create detailed part drawings, assembly drawings, manufacturing documentation, product labels, and supporting technical documentation.
- Work closely with suppliers to optimise product cost, manufacturability, and quality.
- Balance mechanical, thermal, EMC, safety, manufacturing, and commercial requirements to deliver robust product designs.
- Develop product datasheets, installation guides, and technical literature.
- Produce high-quality rendered product visuals to support product launches and marketing activities.
- Collaborate closely with Electronics Design Engineers and cross-functional R&D teams throughout the product development process.
- Participate in technical design reviews and contribute engineering recommendations.
- Support the transition of products from prototype through to volume manufacturing.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, design standards, and development methodologies.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of engineering materials and material selection.
- Experience using 3D CAD software such as Solid Edge (preferred), SolidWorks, Creo, Onshape, or Autodesk Inventor.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, injection moulding, and additive manufacturing / 3D printing.
- Approximately 3–10 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience designing products within power electronics or electronic hardware environments.
- Understanding of electrical safety requirements relating to electronic products.
- Familiarity with basic electronic circuits.
- Exposure to ECAD software such as Altium Designer or Eagle.
- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing transfer activities.
