Job summary

Lincoln Recruitment Specialists is seeking an engineering professional who combines technical leadership with people management to drive new products from concept through to production.

In the New Product Introduction function you’ll lead a multidisciplinary team, translate customer requirements into manufacturing solutions, and work with Quality, Manufacturing, Process Engineering and Supply Chain to ensure successful product introduction and transfer to full-scale manufacturing.

Job description

This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineering professional who enjoys combining technical leadership with people management while delivering innovative products from concept through to production.


Working within the New Product Introduction (NPI) function, you\'ll lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for developing new products, enhancing existing product designs and ensuring customer requirements are successfully translated into manufacturing solutions.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary Product Engineering team, creating a collaborative and high-performing culture.

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the product development lifecycle.

  • Manage team performance, workload planning, recruitment and ongoing professional development.

  • Lead the design, development and revision of product specifications, technical drawings and manufacturing documentation.

  • Translate customer requirements into practical engineering solutions that are manufacturable and commercially viable.

  • Act as the primary technical contact for customers during new product development and specification changes.

  • Work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Supply Chain and Production teams to ensure smooth product introduction and transfer into full-scale manufacturing.

  • Coordinate the development, procurement and management of manufacturing tooling and associated production equipment.

  • Maintain accurate engineering data, product specifications and technical documentation within ERP and MRP systems.

  • Assess manufacturing capability and tooling compatibility to support efficient production.

  • Coordinate engineering activities with suppliers, planning teams and customers to ensure projects are delivered on time.

  • Support the investigation and resolution of customer complaints relating to product design and engineering.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Product Engineering function to enhance quality, efficiency and customer satisfaction.


Requirements:


  • A degree or third-level qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

  • Previous experience leading engineering projects or supervising technical teams.

  • Strong technical understanding of product development, engineering documentation and manufacturing processes.

  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working directly with customers and cross-functional teams.

  • A collaborative leadership style with a passion for coaching and developing others.

  • Experience within a regulated manufacturing environment such as medical devices, healthcare, pharmaceutical or life sciences.

  • Experience working with medical or pharmaceutical customers.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar engineering design software.

  • Experience using SAP or other ERP/MRP systems.

  • Exposure to New Product Introduction (NPI) and product lifecycle management.
