Job summary

Tandem Project Management Ltd. seeks an experienced M&E Lead to act as the on-site representative for a major Cork city centre redevelopment project.

You will monitor mechanical, electrical and lift services through construction and handover, coordinating with architectural, civil, structural and fire disciplines. The role requires a Level 8 degree in a related field and at least 7 years’ experience in building projects, with strong M&E coordination, reporting, and site oversight capabilities.

Qualifications

• Level 8 degree required in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in design or construction of building and M&E projects, including at least 5 years’ construction supervision.
• Strong knowledge of Irish Building Regulations, standards, codes of practice and health and safety requirements.
• Valid Safe Pass.
• Experience monitoring M&E and lift installations on major construction projects.
• Ability to produce detailed weekly site reports and maintain records.
• Chartered Engineer status (Engineers Ireland) and knowledge of public works contracts would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate M&E services with architectural, civil, structural and fire engineering disciplines.

• Monitor progress, quality of M&E and lift services against programme and design intent.
• Carry out BCAR inspections and maintain site records.
• Liaise daily with main contractor, subcontractors, consultants and project monitoring team.
• Review contractor submittals, RFIs and design responses.
• Attend design team, site, contractor and M&E coordination meetings.
• Identify and escalate quality, coordination, programme and site safety concerns to stakeholders.
• Prepare weekly project reports covering progress, programme, inspections, QA and milestones.
• Undertake other duties appropriate to the position.

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced M&E Lead to work on a construction project for a prominent public cultural institution in Cork city centre undergoing significant redevelopment. The successful candidate will act as the Lead M&E engineering representative on site, monitoring the mechanical, electrical and lift services works throughout the construction and handover phases.

Responsibilities:

• Support the effective coordination of M&E services with architectural, civil, structural and fire engineering disciplines.
• Review and understand M&E construction information, including drawings, specifications, schedules and technical documentation.
• Monitor the progress and quality of M&E and lift services installations against the contractor’s programme, design intent and project specifications.
• Carry out BC(A)R and general site inspections, maintaining appropriate records.
• Liaise daily with the main contractor, subcontractors, consultants and other members of the project monitoring team.
• Review contractor technical submittals, works proposals, Requests for Information and design team responses.
• Attend design team, site, contractor and M&E coordination meetings as required.
• Identify and escalation quality, coordination, programme and site safety concerns to the appropriate project stakeholders.
• Prepare weekly project reports covering areas such as progress, programme, inspections, quality assurance, key issues, required decisions, upcoming milestones and photographic records.
• Support the effective coordination of M&E services with architectural, civil, structural and fire engineering disciplines.
• Undertake other duties appropriate to the position as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Level 8 degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the design or construction of building and M&E engineering projects, including at least 5 years’ construction-based supervision experience.
• Strong knowledge of Irish Building Regulations, relevant standards, codes of practice, health and safety legislation and construction best practice.
• Valid Safe Pass.
• Experience monitoring the quality, coordination and installation of M&E and lift services on major construction projects.
• Ability to produce detailed weekly reports and maintain accurate site records.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Autodesk Navisworks and Revit MEP for drawing and 3D model review.
• Experience working within a Common Data Environment, such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore or Dalux.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
• Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland, knowledge of public works contracts, experience in public buildings or live operational environments, and knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems would be advantageous.
