Job Description

JOB TITLE: Marketing Officer

RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Marketing & Brand With dotted line to Communications Director

CONTRACT: Permanent / Full Time

The Abbey Theatre are seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing Officer to support the creation and of our marketing strategies, to maximise exposure and drive engagement for our activities, including presentations, services, workshops, fundraising and community outreach.

A blend of communications and marketing experience will be essential to thrive in this fast-paced environment. No day will ever be the same!

You will be surrounded and supported by a creative and innovative Communications and Marketing team of seven (including you), and will report to the Head of Marketing & Brand, and also work to the Department Director. This internal team promotes the Abbey Theatre and its activities across a wide array of platforms, and engages with a diverse range of stakeholders. The Marketing and Communications Department work closely with colleagues in other departments to deliver an audience for the theatre’s programme and activities.

This is an exciting time at the Abbey Theatre and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on national campaigns featuring leading Irish and international artists and expand their skills in marketing, digital, design and content creation and other communications approaches.

Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities
  • Develop key relationships with internal Abbey Theatre departments (Producing, Development, Tours, Community and Education, Pegeen’s etc) to work closely with them on their communications requirements.
  • Create and manage content for promotional campaigns for Abbey Theatre presentations and events, including festivals.
  • Internal point of contact for marketing of presentation and one-night events.
  • Manage website content and advertising initiatives for all of the projects above.
  • Develop and implement an email marketing strategy for the Abbey, covering promotion outreach, customer service notifications and data privacy elements.
  • Managing the Abbey Theatre email calendar through Prospect 2 (email tool), overseeing drafting, sign off and distribution.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on campaign performances.
  • Work closely with Abbey Theatre design agency, the Abbey Theatre media agency and other professional partners.
  • Manage budgets and invoices through the theatre’s finance system.
General
  • Support the Head of Marketing, Communications Manager, and the wider Communications & Marketing team.
  • Undertake any other tasks as may be deemed reasonable and appropriate.
  • Contribute to the reaching of ambitious sales, attendance and engagement targets on an annual basis.
  • Represent the Marketing & Communications team and the organisation at relevant external and internal meetings and events, including Opening Nights and launches.
  • Adhere to the theatre’s Health and Safety policy and to current legislation.
Person Specification:
Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong writing skills across multiple platforms.
  • Experience in email marketing strategy and implementation.
  • Experience with marketing strategies and budgets.
  • Comfortable with data and managing large data sets.
  • Ability to plan and execute creative campaigns that drive engagement and sales.
  • Exceptional project and time management abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A qualification in Digital Marketing, Communications, or a relevant field may be advantageous.
  • Adaptable to a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, with time in lieu available.
  • The ability to think creatively, and visually.
  • A love and curiosity around arts, culture and storytelling.
  • Written and spoken Irish is an advantage but not a requirement.
