The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for maintaining and supporting highly automated manufacturing equipment to maximise equipment uptime, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency. Working within a regulated medical device environment, the Technician will provide front-line technical support to production operations while ensuring compliance with Client Quality Systems, GMP requirements, and Environmental Health & Safety standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Manufacturing teams to support business objectives, continuous improvement initiatives, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide technical support for high-volume automated manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, sensor, robotic, and automation-related issues.
- Investigate and resolve equipment faults in a timely manner to minimise downtime.
- Carry out equipment adjustments, setups, changeovers, and process optimisation activities.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
- Escalate complex issues where required while maintaining ownership through to resolution.
Manufacturing Excellence
- Support achievement of key manufacturing metrics including:
- OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
- Yield
- Throughput
- Downtime Reduction
- Scrap Reduction
- Right First Time
- Participate in daily Tier meetings and support actions arising from performance reviews.
- Drive continuous improvement activities using Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Participate in Kaizen events, problem-solving workshops, and cost-reduction initiatives.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with:
- Client Quality Systems
- GMP requirements
- ISO standards
- Regulatory requirements
- Data Integrity requirements
- Support investigations relating to non-conformances, deviations, and customer complaints.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis activities using methodologies such as:
- 5 Why
- Fishbone Analysis
- A3 Problem Solving
- CAPA
- Complete documentation accurately and in compliance with site procedures.
Safety & Environmental
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all activities are completed safely.
- Follow all Environmental Health & Safety requirements.
- Participate in risk assessments and safety improvement activities.
- Support Client commitment to maintaining a zero-harm workplace.
Project Support
- Support introduction of new equipment, technologies, and manufacturing processes.
- Assist with equipment qualifications, validations, and process improvement projects.
- Work with Engineering teams to implement permanent corrective actions and equipment upgrades.

Qualifications & Experience
- Electrical Engineering

- Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience working with pneumatic systems and industrial sensors.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
- Strong computer and documentation skills.
- Experience in Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, Diagnostic, or highly regulated manufacturing industries.
- Experience working on automated production equipment.
- Exposure to robotics and vision systems.
- Basic PLC troubleshooting experience.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement experience.
- Knowledge of GMP and regulatory compliance requirements.
