This is also a hands‑on technical leadership role. You will stay close to design, code quality, testing, automation, documentation, operational readiness, and production support, helping the team balance new functionality with technical debt and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, clear expectations, and career conversations
  • Build an inclusive, high‑trust team environment focused on support, respect, and high performance.
  • Support team growth, retention, and knowledge sharing by helping build the right talent mix and a strong bench.
  • Take accountability for team commitments and help deliver high‑quality work that creates measurable business value.
  • Support planning, estimation, and delivery using pragmatic agile practices and clear delivery discipline
  • Remove blockers, manage workload, and support sustainable delivery without compromising retention or team pace.
  • Partner with Technical Product Managers and business stakeholders to ensure backlogs are clear, realistic, prioritised, and ready for engineering execution
  • Bring credible programming experience and actively participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and code reviews
  • Contribute to code where it supports delivery, quality, coaching, or team learning.
  • Reinforce engineering standards across automation, testing, code quality, documentation, reliability, security, and operational support
  • Help the team balance technical debt, operational burden, and new value delivery while maintaining long‑term maintainability
  • Participate in software design and support sound technical decisions within established architecture patterns
  • Maintain awareness of dependent products, systems, and integrations to reduce avoidable risk and protect service quality
  • Reduce key‑person dependency through documentation, cross‑training, clean coding practices, and practical knowledge sharing.
  • Work closely with Technical Product Managers, architects, business partners, and peer teams to align priorities, delivery, and technical direction.
  • Manage different perspectives, resolve disagreements constructively, and help move priorities forward
  • Represent the team clearly to stakeholders by explaining technical trade‑offs in plain language.
  • Lead retrospectives and continuous improvement so the team keeps improving how it delivers

  • Practical understanding of software design, code review, testing, CI/CD, operational support, and production reliability.
  • Experience planning and delivering work using agile practices, including estimation, prioritisation, dependency management, and delivery follow‑through.
