Job summary

Bloomfield Hospital is seeking a motivated Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities Management Team on a temporary, full-time basis (39 hours/week). A full, clean European driving licence is essential.

The role spans maintenance across hospital and residential areas, with emphasis on safety and quality of service. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, high-quality decoration, and coordinating with external contractors as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks across carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and decorating.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance Team to deliver daily maintenance and installations.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and keep accurate service records.
• Maintain high standards of decoration and building appearance.
• Prioritise tasks from the maintenance log with managers.
• Conduct regular safety inspections including emergency lighting, fire alarms, and firefighting equipment.
• Identify and repair maintenance issues to minimise service disruption.
• Liaise with on-site tradespeople and external contractors as needed.
• Promote a safe, well-maintained environment across all facilities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives led by Head of Facilities Management.

We are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities Management Team on a temporary basis. The successful applicant will play a vital role in ensuring our hospital and residential facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors.

Our hospital provides a wide range of neuropsychiatric services for adults with serious and enduring mental health conditions, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, early-onset dementias, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general maintenance duties on a basic level such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and/or decorating.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance Team to deliver day-to-day maintenance and installations across the hospital and residential areas.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance and maintain accurate service records.
• Maintain high standards of decoration and general building appearance.
• Prioritise tasks from the maintenance log in consultation with departmental managers.
• Carry out regular safety inspections, including checks on emergency lighting, fire alarms, and firefighting equipment.
• Identify and troubleshoot maintenance issues, coordinating prompt repair to minimise service disruption.
• Liaise with on-site tradespeople and external contractors as needed.
• Promote and uphold a safe and well-maintained environment across all facilities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives led by the Head of Facilities Management.

Person Specification

Essential Experience:

• Proven experience in general maintenance, preferably within a healthcare or similar setting
• Ability to work independently and manage varied maintenance challenges
• Knowledge of health and safety standards and best practices

Skills:

• A multi-skilled technician who can turn his or her hand to most trade sets. For example, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and/or decorating experience.
• To have a technical mindset when it comes to problem solving, with a can-do attitude.
• Needs to be able to work well as part of a team and individually.
