Job summary

Bloomfield Hospital is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our facilities team on a temporary basis. The role supports keeping hospital and residential facilities safe, functional, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors at Bloomfield Hospital in Dublin.

The position requires a full, clean European driving licence and offers a 39-hour week as Temporary/Full-Time. The job is based at Bloomfield Hospital, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, with reports to the Head of Facilities Management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in general maintenance, preferably within a healthcare or similar setting
• Ability to work independently and manage varied maintenance challenges
• Knowledge of health and safety standards and best practices

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance duties on a basic level such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and/or decorating
• Collaborate with the Maintenance Team to deliver day-to-day maintenance and installations across the hospital and residential areas
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance and maintain accurate service records
• Maintain high standards of decoration and general building appearance
• Prioritise tasks from the maintenance log in consultation with departmental managers
• Carry out regular safety inspections, including checks on emergency lighting, fire alarms, and firefighting equipment
• Identify and troubleshoot maintenance issues, coordinating prompt repair to minimise service disruption
• Liaise with on-site tradespeople and external contractors as needed
• Promote and uphold a safe and well-maintained environment across all facilities
• Support continuous improvement initiatives led by the Head of Facilities Management

We are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities Management Team on a temporary basis. The successful applicant will play a vital role in ensuring our hospital and residential facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Skills:

• A multi-skilled technician who can turn his or her hand to most trade sets. For example, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and/or decorating experience.
• To have a technical mindset when it comes to problem solving, with a can-do attitude.
• Needs to be able to work well as part of a team and individually.
