Job summary

Life Science Recruitment in Dublin is seeking a Maintenance Technician (Electrical/Mechanical) to join a leading healthcare organisation. The role covers preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs and PLC-controlled equipment in a fast-paced pharma environment.

The position operates 8-hour shifts across 5/7 days (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am) with a 9-month initial contract. Experience with Siemens SIMATIC, pneumatics and HVAC systems is valued, along with CMMS usage.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical/electro-mechanical maintenance.
• Experience with automated equipment and fault-finding.
• Experience with PLC-controlled equipment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs and troubleshooting on automated electro-mechanical equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot high-speed PLC-controlled equipment.
• Equipment includes ASRS, printing/labelling systems, conveyors, lifting/de-stacking equipment, fridges/freezers and HVAC/building services.
• Troubleshoot using PLC programs, identify faults and determine corrective actions.
• Coordinate and complete planned maintenance/PM schedules, reviewing and improving maintenance routines where required.
• Monitor line and machine performance, responding quickly to breakdowns to support production targets.
• Support new equipment installations, modifications and upgrades, working with equipment suppliers as required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance system records, parts/stores transactions, breakdown records and shift handovers.
• Participate in training, cross-skilling, continuous improvement and achievement of maintenance KPIs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs and troubleshooting on automated electro-mechanical equipment and systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot high-speed PLC-controlled, pneumatic, handling and packaging equipment.
• Equipment includes ASRS, printing/labelling systems, conveyors, lifting/de-stacking equipment, fridges/freezers and HVAC/building services.
• Troubleshoot using PLC programs, identify faults and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Coordinate and complete planned maintenance/PM schedules, reviewing and improving maintenance routines where required.

Education and Experience:

• Previous experience in an electrical/electro-mechanical maintenance environment.
• Experience working with automated equipment and fault-finding/troubleshooting.
• Experience with PLC-controlled equipment would be highly advantageous.
• Pneumatic systems and controls.
• Siemens SIMATIC, sensors, scanners and Profibus.
• Refrigeration, freezer or cold-room equipment.
• Building services and facilities maintenance, including HVAC, pumps, burners and sprinkler systems.
• Maintenance management/CMMS systems.
• Good IT literacy, including Microsoft Office.
