Job summary

Dawn Meats Charleville is seeking a skilled Maintenance Fitter to join our Engineering team. You will service and repair beef processing equipment, including conveyors and packaging machinery, ensuring reliability and efficiency.

The role requires a time-served Fitter with hydraulics, pneumatics and automation experience, plus the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Overtime and on-call work may be required.

Qualifications

• Time-served Mechanical, Automation & Maintenance Fitter with a minimum of 2 years post-apprenticeship experience.
• Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Experience with machines, process equipment, controls & automation.
• Experience in electrical & mechanical installations, maintenance and refrigeration systems.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Holds a full driving licence.
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work overtime and on-call.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine maintenance and repair on beef processing equipment including conveyors, motors/gearboxes and packaging machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot faults and implement solutions to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with maintenance team to plan preventative maintenance schedules.
• Replace and repair defective components such as motors, bearings, belts and hydraulic systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards and company policies.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment history.
• Complete training and review SOPs on compliance.
• Tackle a wide range of maintenance/engineering challenges in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Time-served Mechanical, Automation & Maintenance Fitter (MAMF) or Time-served mechanic demonstrating a high level of competency, with a minimum of 2 years post apprenticeship experience.
• Experienced in hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Experience of machines & process equipment, controls & automation.
• Experience in electrical & mechanical installations, maintenance and refrigeration systems.
• Can demonstrate good communication, both written & oral skills, which meet the requirements of the job in full.
• Good troubleshooting ability; to logically follow a line of thought for problem solving;
• Holds a full driving license;
• Ability to work on their own initiative, with minimum supervision, as well as part of a team;
• Has a flexible approach to working hours (overtime and on call).
