Job summary

GxP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to focus on equipment reliability, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to keep GMP, EHS and company standards compliant.

You will develop and optimise maintenance programmes, support manufacturing and facility systems, troubleshoot PLC/DCS/SCADA and related instrumentation, and drive improvements to MTBF and MTTR while working with cross-functional teams and external contractors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree/Higher Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Manufacturing or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in maintenance engineering within a pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, medical-device, food or other regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Experience with CMMS systems such as SAP, Maximo or similar.
  • Good troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills.
  • Strong understanding of GMP and EHS requirements.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and optimise preventative and predictive maintenance programmes.
  • Provide engineering support for manufacturing, utilities and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation and control-system issues.
  • Coordinate corrective maintenance and breakdown response to minimise equipment downtime.
  • Support maintenance of pumps, valves, motors, compressors, boilers, HVAC systems, process equipment and other critical utilities.
  • Work with PLC, DCS, SCADA, instrumentation and control systems where applicable.
  • Manage maintenance activities through the site's CMMS, ensuring accurate completion of work orders and maintenance records.
  • Analyse equipment failures and perform root-cause investigations.
  • Identify and implement reliability improvements to increase MTBF and reduce MTTR.
  • Support equipment upgrades, modifications, commissioning and qualification activities.
  • Prepare and review maintenance procedures, SOPs, work instructions and technical documentation.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with GMP, EHS, quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in change control, deviations, CAPA and risk‑assessment activities where required.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, Validation, Engineering, EHS and external contractors.
  • Manage contractors and ensure maintenance work is performed safely and in accordance with site procedures.

Job description

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
  • Bachelor's degree/Higher Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Manufacturing or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in maintenance engineering within a pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, medical-device, food or other regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Experience with CMMS systems such as SAP, Maximo or similar.
  • Good troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills.
  • Strong understanding of GMP and EHS requirements.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable:
  • Experience with GMP utilities and critical systems.
  • Experience with PLC/DCS/SCADA and industrial instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, cleanrooms, purified water, WFI, compressed air, steam or other pharmaceutical utilities.
  • Experience with commissioning, qualification and validation.
  • Lean/Six Sigma or reliability-engineering experience.
  • Experience with change control, CAPA and deviation systems.
