Job summary

The Coombe Hospital in Dublin seeks a Consultant Histopathologist / Cytopathologist to lead the laboratory medicine service. You will oversee Gynaecological Cytopathology +/- Histopathology, participate in teaching and audit, and contribute to service development within a multidisciplinary team.

The role involves clinical leadership, education for NCHDs and colposcopists, and active participation in governance and ethics committees as required.

Qualifications

• Fully trained to the level of Consultant Histopathologist / Cytopathologist.
• Demonstrates leadership within MDT contexts.
• Experience in teaching and audit within histopathology.
• Ability to provide clinical leadership and manage complex cases.

Responsibilities

• Provide Gynaecological Cytopathology +/- Histopathology services.
• Lead education, training and audit activities.
• Participate in Clinical Audit Committee and Ethics Committee as required.
• Manage duties in line with the Service Plan and hospital policies.
• Attend clinics and provide diagnostic/consultation services as needed.
• Supervise non-Consultant Hospital Doctors treating patients.
• Engage in teaching for students and staff.
