Job summary

Woodston Personnel Ltd. is seeking a Temporary Consultant Histopathologist for a hospital in the West of Ireland. The appointee will deliver diagnostic histopathology, participate in MDT meetings, support NCCP clinical pathways, and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and research.

The role includes autopsy responsibilities, QA in line with ISO 15189 and INAB guidelines, and active engagement in clinical audits, governance, and teaching within the department.

Qualifications

• Specialist Registration in Histopathology (or eligibility for immediate registration).
• FRCPath or equivalent qualification required.
• High-level diagnostic surgical pathology expertise and subspecialty reporting.
• Active participation in clinical audit, governance, and MDT working.
• Strong teaching, supervision, and educational delivery skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic reporting on surgical pathology specimens, biopsies, and cytopathology where applicable.
• Participate in MDT meetings for cancer diagnosis, staging, and treatment planning.
• Offer expert consultative opinions on complex cases as requested.
• Provide autopsy services in line with regional requirements.
• Ensure rapid turn-around times and maintain ISO 15189 accreditation standards.
