Job summary

cows.ie is seeking a highly organised individual to support livestock stock control and herd administration. You will maintain accurate livestock records and work closely with Livestock, Sales and Accounts teams.

Full training will be provided on Bright Software, AIM Herds and our internal systems. Standard office hours with occasional Saturday work during busy periods. Experience in livestock management and strong Excel skills are advantageous.

Job description

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented person to join our team in an important role covering livestock stock control and herd administration.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Livestock, Sales and Accounts teams and will be responsible for maintaining accurate livestock and herd records across the business.

Full training will be provided on Bright Software, AIM Herds and the company's internal systems and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Control

• Maintain accurate livestock records through Bright Software and AIM Herds.
• Record and monitor all livestock purchases, sales, movements, transfers, deaths and disposals.
• Regularly reconcile physical livestock numbers against system records and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate records of livestock by tag number, herd, location, supplier and customer.
• Assist with livestock stock valuations and month-end stock reporting.
• Ensure stock movements are entered accurately and promptly into the relevant systems.
• Work closely with the Livestock and Accounts teams to ensure livestock records and financial records correspond.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date herd records in AIM Herds.
• Record animal movements and maintain individual animal information.
• Assist with maintaining records relating to breeding, herd status, testing, vaccination and other relevant animal information.
• Ensure livestock documentation and system records are complete and accurate.
• Assist with preparing herd and livestock information required for sales, purchases, quarantine and export programmes.
• Liaise with farm and livestock personnel to ensure records are kept up to date.
• Assist with producing herd and livestock reports when required.
• Previous experience in livestock administration, stock control, farm administration or a similar role would be an advantage.
• An interest in or knowledge of livestock and herd management would be beneficial.
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Good numerical and record-keeping abilities.
• Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Experience with stock control, farm management or livestock software would be beneficial.
• Experience with Bright Software or AIM Herds would be an advantage, although full training will be provided.
• Ability to work accurately with large volumes of information and records.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise and meet deadlines, particularly during livestock export periods and month end.
• Self-motivated, reliable and proactive, with a practical approach to problem-solving.
• An Agricultural qualification/degree would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Experience in social media; creating videos for Youtube and TikTok.
• Work Hours: Standard office hours, with occasional Saturday work during busy livestock export periods.
• Salary: Competitive salary, dependent on experience and qualifications.
