Job summary

FRS Farm Relief Services is seeking an Experienced Farm Operative to join a technology-focused dairy operation milking approximately 200 cows. You will contribute to livestock care, machinery operation and grassland management, including calving, calf rearing and herd health.

Working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am–5:00pm, with every third weekend required during the compact calving period. Accommodation is not provided for this role, and a full driving licence would be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience on a farm with livestock.
• Dairy farm experience preferred but not essential.
• Full driving licence would be advantageous.

Experienced Farm Operative – Livestock, Machinery & Grassland Management

About the Farm

Our Client is a progressive, technology-focused robotic dairy farm milking approximately 200 cows in a split-calving system. There is a strong emphasis on herd health, grassland management, animal welfare and the efficient use of modern farming technology.

The farm operates a high level of in-house machinery, including slurry spreading using LESS, fertiliser spreading with GPS, topping, diet feeding and zero-grazing.

They are seeking a skilled and motivated operative to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone in the Agri industry that’s looking for a change away from morning and evening milking.

The Role

The successful candidate will work closely with the farm team across all aspects of the day-to-day operation. Responsibilities will include:

• Calving and calf rearing during calving periods.
• General animal husbandry and livestock management.
• Managing cows using on the robotic system.
• Maintaining herd health and reporting any issues.
• Grass measuring, grass allocation and management of the grazing wedge.
• Operating modern farm machinery safely and efficiently.
• Zero-grazing operations.
• Slurry spreading, Zero Grazing, GPS Fertilizer application, Diet feeding
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and organised workplace.
• Carrying out general farm duties as required.
• Following all SOP on the farm.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience working on farm. Dairy farm experience is preferred, but not essential.
• A genuine interest in working with livestock.
• Experience with cattle handling and general animal husbandry.
• Experience operating tractors and modern farm machinery.
• The ability to carry out basic machinery and equipment maintenance.ber>
• An interest in grassland and pasture management.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A positive, reliable and responsible attitude.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• A strong commitment to health, safety and animal welfare.
• A full driving licence and relevant machinery qualifications would be an advantage.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 5:00pm

Every third weekend required

and more during the compact calving period.

Salary

From €36,000- €39,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
