Job summary

HCLTech in Cork, Ireland, is seeking a senior Linux and Ansible engineer to join a hybrid team. You will apply deep Linux internals knowledge, manage system hardening, and contribute to scalable environments.

With 5+ years in Ansible and 10+ years in Linux, you will write modular playbooks, work with YAML and Jinja2, and help automate configurations, patching, and deployments across large-scale systems. The role includes diverse, global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of Linux internals (process management, memory, storage, kernel concepts).
• Strong troubleshooting skills in Linux environments.
• Experience configuring and hardening Linux across multiple distros (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu/SUSE).
• Experience with filesystems, LVM, RAID, networking, boot loaders and securing systems.
• Modular, reusable Ansible playbooks, role-based structures; YAML and Jinja2 templating.

Job Summary: Linux+Ansible

1. Core Linux Expertise (10+ years expected)

Look for strong, hands‑on capability in:

• Deep understanding of Linux internals (process management, memory, storage, kernel concepts).
• Expertise in system configuration & hardening across RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu/SUSE.
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Experience managing filesystems, LVM, RAID, networking, boot loaders.
• Capability to design and manage secure, scalable Linux environments.

2. Ansible Expertise (5+ years expected)

Candidate should be strong in:

• Writing modular, reusable playbooks and role-based structures.
• Deep understanding of YAML, Jinja2 templating, and inventory management.
• Creating custom Ansible modules, filters, or plugins (optional but strong plus).
• Managing large-scale automation of:
• configurations
• patching
• deployments
