Backend Team Lead & Site Lead We're looking for a strong, hands-on Backend Team Lead with a passion for technical excellence and leadership. In this role, you serve as the technical owner of one or more domains within the product—driving architecture, design, and code quality while mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. You'll lead both by influence and through direct people management—partnering closely with Product Leads and Domain Architects to ensure scalable, maintainable, and high-performing solutions. You'll balance hands‑on technical work with guiding others, setting engineering standards, and shaping the technical roadmap. As Site Lead, you'll also serve as the onsite leader, responsible for all Zerto employees at the location. Beyond your technical domain, you'll help establish the site's culture, act as the local point of contact across functions, and ensure a productive, engaged, and collaborative work environment as the site grows.
Plan and deliver features, ensuring resources are appropriately allocated and that goals and timelines are met in line with organizational roadmaps. Collaborate with Product Leads on prioritization, backlog, and feasibility decisions. Proactively identify process improvement and cost-reduction opportunities, achieving operational excellence through metrics and continuous learning. Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, setting expectations regarding deliverables, quality, schedules, and costs.
Provide direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing, developing, and sustaining products, enhancements, and updates. Participate in recruiting and hiring for the new team, helping assess technical capabilities, ownership mindset, and cultural fit. Own people management for your team—including onboarding, performance goal setting, coaching, and career development. Build a best-in-class engineering team that delivers excellent results.
As Zerto’s first group in Ireland, operating as an extension of the Israeli office, serve as the on‑site leader for all Zerto employees at the new site. Represent the company locally, foster a positive and inclusive site culture, and take responsibility for learning the product, architecture, and business flows from the ground up in order to effectively enable and grow the new team. Act as the primary local point of contact across functions (HR, IT, Facilities, and management), ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations. Support onboarding, engagement, and well‑being of employees at the site, helping to build a strong sense of community as the site scales. Partner with global stakeholders and leadership to align the site with company goals, values, and standards. Champion site-wide initiatives, events, and communication to strengthen collaboration and belonging.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Typically 10 years of experience, including a minimum of 4 years of people management experience.
An environment that demands very high technical standards. Full technical independence while leading features from conception to implementation. Direct impact on the roadmap of the core component in the product. Working on an enterprise-grade product serving over 12,000 customers and protecting much of the world’s key infrastructure. Promote a workplace culture that prioritizes personal development and servant leadership. A unique opportunity to help shape and lead a newly established site from the ground up.
