Senior Backend Engineer Location: Galway Ireland Type: Permanent - Full time
Summary We're looking for a hands-on Backend Tech Lead to serve as a technical authority for critical system software—driving architecture, design, and code quality. In this role you'll combine deep engineering skills with technical leadership: solving the hardest programming, performance, and reliability challenges, leading design reviews and technical decisions. Your contributions will have visible technical impact on our core product—improving time-to-market, driving cost reductions, and satisfying current and future customer needs.
Design and develop cutting-edge system software products. Drive performance optimization and efficient memory management. Develop innovative solutions addressing challenges in virtualization, multithreading, and hardware-software interaction. Design and implement robust, scalable solutions for complex challenges. Proactively identify bottlenecks in system design and implement scalable solutions. Perform in-depth debugging, triaging, and resolution for a variety of issues.
Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and decisions on critical system challenges, driving the adoption of innovative solutions and best practices. Develop and integrate into complex system. Identify and evaluate new technology innovations to ensure alignment with the technology roadmap and business value; create plans for integration into the architecture.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on design goals and ensure seamless integration with the system architecture. Explore and implement new methodologies fostering continuous improvement and innovation. Stay updated on evolving trends in virtualization technologies to bring innovative practices to the team. Exhibit flexibility in taking on new or related tasks, showcasing adaptability and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
In-depth working knowledge and hands-on backend experience. At least 10 years Expertise in C#. Strong knowledge of Linux and virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM. Deep expertise in software systems design, development methodologies, and integration across diverse platforms and technologies. Strong ability to innovate and bring fresh approaches to technical challenges. Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset and sharp analytical abilities. Exceptional communication skills to effectively present and discuss technical designs, proposals, and solutions with senior management and stakeholders.
Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
