Job summary

Uisce Éireann is looking for a Leakage Detection Operative to monitor leaks across the national water network using specialised equipment. You will measure water flow and pressure, isolate network sections, and escalate issues for quick resolution.

The role supports the Water Leakage Analysis and Network Planning teams and may involve night shifts. We require secondary education or equivalent, a valid Irish driving licence, and a safety‑minded, proactive approach.

Qualifications

• Secondary level education or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in water/utilities preferred.
• Full, clean Irish category B driving licence is required.
• A proactive, safety‑driven mindset and ability to work in a team.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and detect leakage across the water network.
• Use specialised monitoring equipment to measure flow and pressure.
• Isolate and re‑commission sections of the distribution network safely.
• Escalate detected leaks to the Team Lead for early intervention.
• Contribute to the team’s performance culture and targets.
• Support leakage sweeps and surveys led by senior operatives.
• Develop understanding of systems (Maximo and LMS) used for OLM.
• Assist with DMA maintenance and network integrity checks.
• Assist in reporting progress and sharing information within the region.
• Carry out duties during regional leakage plans and out‑of‑hours work.
• Adopt new technology and undergo related training as required.
• Collaborate with third parties/contractors in water conservation activities.
• Ensure work complies with Uisce Éireann information security policies.
