Amey is offering a Lead Senior Engineer (Bridges) role in Dublin. You will lead multidisciplinary bridge projects within Consulting Structures, mentoring junior staff and coordinating with clients and suppliers across Ireland and the UK.

Qualifications

• Senior level experience in structures, ideally in bridge engineering.
• Proven ability to produce or oversee technically sound engineering deliverables.
• Strong knowledge of safety, health and welfare and risk assessment.
• Experience with risk mitigation and interface management across disciplines.
• Chartered status or eligibility is desirable and contract-specific.

Responsibilities

• Lead bridge engineering projects from start to finish, including design, calculations, and handover.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians within a small local team.
• Prepare and check designs, drawings and documentation to meet quality, cost and programme.
• Liaise with clients and suppliers, attend progress meetings and respond to queries.
• Drive health and safety practices within the team.
• Contribute to bids and business development activities.

What You Will Be Doing

Our Lead Senior Structural Engineers play an important part within Consulting Structures team. As a Lead Senior Structural Engineer, you will provide effective support and assistance to your Technical Director on a variety of Structures public transport schemes, whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior engineers and technicians. As part of our Dublin team, you’ll work on local projects and support initiatives in Ireland and the UK remotely. Responsibilities include:

• Leading a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions.
• Taking ownership and leading bridge engineering projects from start to finish, from preparing the quotation all the way to handover, including:
• Design development
• Structural assessments
• Principal Inspections / Special Inspections
• Feasibility and other technical reports
• Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme.
• Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions.
• Contributing to the professional development of junior staff.
• Liaising with Client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, and responding to queries.
• Managing a small, locally based single discipline technical team and taking responsibility for delivery of their workload.
• Contributing to the preparation of bids and general work winning function.
• Drive effective Health and Safety practices within the team.

We want to hear from you if you have

• Developed experience and expertise within Structures field, probably gained in a Senior Engineer role or equivalent.
• Comprehensive knowledge of structural design processes and procedures.
• An ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and Client's requirements.
• Takes ownership for the preparation and checking of deliverables and can check deliverables to a reasonable standard.
• Very good working knowledge of relevant software and similar analytical tools (e.g LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design).
• Demonstrates good commercial awareness.
• Has a good understanding of Safety, Health & Welfare and risk assessment.
• Substantially experienced in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects and ensures appropriate risk mitigation and transference has been applied.
• Demonstrates a good understanding of interface management, and ensures own deliverables align with deliverables produced by other disciplines.
• Incorporated or Chartered status with Engineers Ireland, ICE or IStructE. or an equivalent professional licence gained through the professional institution to which the individual is aligned is desirable and may be essential on particular contracts.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning.
