Job summary

Solas IT Recruitment seeks a proactive Lead Project Manager to head the Project Management team in our North Dublin hybrid setup. Lead two PMs, oversee ~20 active projects from scoping through testing and delivery, and drive delivery standards with a clear decision-making framework.

You will partner with senior stakeholders, manage cross-functional delivery challenges and ensure consistent governance and reporting across the portfolio. Hybrid role with onsite three days weekly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Project Management.
• Proven experience leading or managing other Project Managers.
• Experience overseeing a project portfolio or delivery function.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage, coach and develop two Project Managers with clear objectives and accountability.
• Provide guidance on project planning, stakeholder management, risk resolution and delivery decisions.

Lead Project Manager | Technology & Digital Delivery

Location: North Dublin | Hybrid (3 days onsite)

The Opportunity

We are working with an established technology business seeking a commercially minded Lead Project Manager to lead its Project Management team and take overall responsibility for delivery across a busy project portfolio.

Reporting directly to the Director of Digital, you will manage two Project Managers and oversee approximately 20 active projects, ranging from major client implementations to smaller internal initiatives.

This role combines people leadership, portfolio oversight and hands-on delivery. You will set priorities, guide and develop your Project Managers, establish clear delivery standards and ensure the team has the direction and support needed to deliver successfully.

We are looking for a decisive leader who takes accountability for the wider delivery function, anticipates challenges and brings people together to resolve issues and maintain momentum.

Key Responsibilities

• Directly manage, coach and develop two Project Managers, setting clear objectives, expectations and accountability.
• Provide guidance on project planning, stakeholder management, risk resolution and delivery decisions.
• Review workloads and allocate responsibilities across the team, ensuring appropriate capacity and ownership.
• Support the team through complex delivery challenges, stepping in where senior leadership or decision-making is required.
• Build a culture of ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Take overall accountability for delivery across approximately 20 concurrent projects, from initial scoping and planning through to testing, implementation and completion.
• Oversee project plans, milestones, dependencies and resources, ensuring individual projects align with wider business priorities.
• Work with your Project Managers to identify delivery risks early, agree recovery plans and resolve blockers.
• Maintain a clear view of portfolio performance, ensuring resources and attention are focused where they deliver the greatest value.
• Take direct ownership of selected complex or high-priority projects when required.
• Balance timelines, scope, commercial priorities and quality to achieve practical, successful outcomes.

Stakeholder Management & Governance

• Act as the senior point of contact for the Project Management team, working closely with the Director of Digital and other senior stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Development, Business Analysis, Operations, Finance and other teams to coordinate delivery and resolve cross-functional challenges.
• Provide clear, concise portfolio updates to senior management, including C-level stakeholders, highlighting progress, risks and decisions required.
• Own and improve project governance, delivery processes, planning templates and reporting standards.
• Ensure consistent delivery practices across the team while keeping processes proportionate and effective.

Experience & Skills

• 5+ years’ experience in Project Management, with a strong track record of delivering multiple concurrent projects.
• Proven experience leading or managing other Project Managers, including setting priorities, reviewing delivery performance and supporting their development.
• Experience overseeing a project portfolio or delivery function, with accountability extending beyond your own individual projects.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a logical, structured approach to resolving complex delivery challenges.
• Strong leadership and delegation skills, with the ability to hold people accountable while providing practical support.
• Confidence to make decisions, challenge assumptions and drive delivery independently.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly with senior leadership, clients and technical teams.
• Ability to understand how systems, processes and project dependencies interact without needing to be technically hands-on.
• Strong organisational skills, commercial awareness and sound judgement when balancing competing priorities.
• Experience in SaaS, software, digital products, eCommerce or technology environments would be advantageous but is not essential.

We want a proactive, decisive and solutions-focused leader who can get the best from other Project Managers while maintaining oversight of the wider portfolio.

You will be comfortable delegating responsibility, challenging delivery plans and supporting your team through difficult decisions. You will know when to step into the detail and when to give your Project Managers the space to lead.

Above all, you will bring structure, accountability and momentum, ensuring the team delivers projects to the required standard with the right commercial balance.

• Package of €95,000–€115,000
• Hybrid working: 3 days onsite in North Dublin
• 20 days per year working remotely from anywhere, subject to company policy
