Job summary

Suir Engineering Ltd in Waterford invites applications for a Lead Mechanical Estimator. This full-time permanent role can be based in Cleaboy, Waterford City or City West, Dublin with flexible hybrid options.

You will quantify materials, prepare estimates, issue tender queries, and manage tenders across energy, pharma, food & beverage, and data centres. A minimum of seven years’ estimating experience and proficiency with estimating software are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in mechanical estimating or related trade.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand specifications and drawings.
• Experience with computerised estimating software.
• Proactive problem solving and ability to plan/work under supervision.
• Strong numeracy and communication skills.

We have an exciting opportunity for a LeadMechanical Estimatorto join Suir Engineering. This is a Full-time permanent position and will be based in our offices in Cleaboy, Waterford City or City West, Dubilin with flexible Hybrid working options available.

Overall Role Objective

The Senior Estimator is responsible for the preparation, submission and management of mechanical tenders allocated. The main objective of this role is to achieve accurate net costs in accordance with the tender documents.

What you will be doing?

• Accurately quantify material, plant and labour requirements.
• Prepare estimates utilising in house estimating software system.
• Compile and issue tender queries.
• Undertake comparison of subcontractor, supplier, and specialist quotations.
• Attend site surveys as required.
• Contribute to tender risk and opportunity registers.
• Preparation of tender documentation for submission.
• Attend pre contract / post tender meetings.
• Any other reasonable and relevant duties as requested by your Manager, necessary to meet the ongoing needs of the company.

Is this the job for me?

• The successful candidate will need a minimum of 7 years’ experience working in the Mechanical Sector and have a clear knowledge of the requirements.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in an Estimator role or relevant trade qualification and background.
• The ability to read, interpret and understand specifications and drawings.
• Experience of computerised estimating software.
• The ability to think ahead, plan and prioritise workload.
• The ability to work with the minimum of supervision.
• Numeracy and literacy skills.
• The ability to work as part of a team.
• The ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
• Good communication skills.
• A proactive approach to problem solving.
• PC Skills: Computer literacy including MS Office.
• Expreince in Trimble Estimating Softward would be an advantage
