Job summary

Clancy Construction in Dublin is hiring a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to support a positive safety culture across sites in the Dublin area.

The Lead HSE Advisor will train colleagues on health and safety importance and propose improvements to processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and corporate standards.

Qualifications

  • Level 7 qualification (or equivalent) in Health and Safety.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience, ideally within a main/specialist contractor.
  • Strong ability to influence change and champion best practice.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Embed a positive HS&E culture, focusing on preventative actions and safe site operations.
  • Ensure employees and sub-contractors are compliant with Health, Safety & Workplace legislation.
  • Communicate HS&E requirements clearly using modern software and guidance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of accidents, carry out site safety inspections and investigations.
  • Maintain and track the accident and dangerous occurrence Register.
  • Review RAMS and Safe Plans of Action (SPA) and liaise with Site Managers to keep documentation up to date.
  • Attend meetings, deliver Toolbox Talks and chair project safety meetings.
  • Support audits, plan strategy for cultural and behavioural change, and represent the company during external inspections.
  • Develop and manage risk assessments & method statements.
  • Assist with other duties as requested by Health & Safety Manager.

Come join us We are hiring for a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to work with us in the Dublin area. The Lead HSE Advisor will support a positive safety culture by championing best practice, conducting training for new and existing Colleagues on the importance of health and safety, and by suggesting improvements to existing processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Positively and proactively embed a positive HS&E culture - enhancing the focus on preventative actions, reduction of injuries, and the promotion of health and environmentally friendly site operations.
  • Assisting in ensuring that all employees and sub-contractors are fully compliant and up to date in all Health, Safety & Workplace legislation.
  • Communicate all HS&E requirements clearly, using modern software and providing guidance through procedures, bulletins, verbal support, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Root cause analysis of accidents and preventing recurrence, carrying out site safety inspections and conducting accident and dangerous occurrence investigations.
  • Maintaining and tracking the accident and dangerous occurrence Register.
  • Reviewing (RAMS) Risk Assessments and Method Statements and Safe Plans of Action (SPA).
  • Liaising with Site Managers to ensure Health and Safety documentation is fully up to date.
  • Attending whiteboard meetings, delivering Toolbox Talks and chairing project safety meetings.
  • Compliance monitoring and auditing, and planning of the strategy and delivery of cultural and behavioural change.
  • Acting as a Company representative during outside Agency Audits/Inspections with regards to Health and Safety.
  • The development and management of risk assessments & method statements.
  • Any other reasonable and relevant duties as requested by the Health & Safety Manager.
Qualifications / Experience
  • A minimum of a Level 7 qualification (or equivalent) in Health and Safety.
  • Experience : a minimum of 3 years - ideally within a main/specialist contractor.
  • Strong and proven ability to influence change and champion best practice.
  • A demonstrated ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • An ability to communicated in English - spoken and written - is required.
