Job summary

Permanent TSB is seeking a Lead Financial Accountant based in Dublin with responsibility for external reporting including FINREP, interim and annual reporting, and internal control frameworks within Group Finance.

The role requires a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), 1–2 years post-qualification experience, and a capability to lead a team under tight deadlines. Hybrid working is available from PTSB Head Office, St Stephen’s Green, Dublin.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA or CIMA
• Strong appreciation of robust controls and governance
• Self-starter able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Team-focused and able to lead by example across bank teams
• Understanding of Retail and Treasury Banking products and impairment/dimension of balance sheet
• 1-2 years post-qualification experience
• Good knowledge of the Irish banking sector

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and motivate a team delivering high professional standards
• Prepare and review FINREP quarterly returns with timetable, templates and controls
• Prepare interim and annual reports, notes for financial statements and liaise with auditors
• Prepare technical accounting papers for Board Audit Committee and ad hoc papers
• Monitor emerging regulatory requirements and ensure timely external reporting
• Coordinate collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data for timely reports

As the Lead Financial Accountant, you will play a key role within the finance function of PTSB. The successful candidate will be work in key areas of external reporting, which include the Annual and Interim reporting process, CBI Reporting (FINREP), and the Internal Control Framework for Group Finance within the Bank. This role will require you to take a lead role within the team and support Management. It will provide you with excellent opportunities to learn and progress both within the Finance function and the Group.

Responsibilities:

Lead, coach and motivate a combined team capable of delivering to the highest professional standard.

• Take primary responsibility for the preparation and review of FINREP quarterly returns in accordance with CRD IV. This includes; preparation and management of the quarterly timetable, preparing FINREP templates, reviewing other team members’ FINREP templates, and leading the completion of the relevant controls over the process.
• Take a key role in the preparation of the interim and annual reports for the Group, ensuring high standards of accuracy. This includes; the preparation of notes for the financial statements, reviewing other team members’ notes, engaging with the Bank’s auditors on queries, and assisting and coaching other team members with the preparation of their notes and queries that may arises.
• Preparation of technical accounting papers for the Board Audit Committee as part as the interim and annual reporting processes, in addition to any ad hoc papers that may be required during the year.
• Be cognisant of emerging commercial, accounting and regulatory requirements, ensuring that the External Reporting team deliver appropriately, contributing to the success of Group Finance and the Bank;
• Support Management with coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data and the preparation of accurate financial reports on a timely basis such that all timelines are met.

Requirements:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Strong appreciation of the importance of robust controls.
• Self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and an ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
• Team focused displaying ability to lead by example within the team and work with other teams around the bank, a willingness to be flexible to assist in achieving the overall goals of the team.
• An established understanding of Retail and Treasury Banking products, impairments and other Retail balance sheet lines.
• 1-2 years Post Qualification experience.
• Good knowledge of the Irish banking sector and business.
