Lead Embedded Software Design & Verification Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking a creative and experienced Lead Embedded Software Design & Verification Engineer to develop and verify software for embedded flight control systems.
The successful candidate will lead and develop a local engineering team while working closely with international engineering partners. The role is based in Shannon, Co. Clare, with some hybrid/remote working available as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, integration, and verification of embedded software for flight control systems.
- Lead and mentor a team of embedded software engineers.
- Develop safety-critical embedded software using C.
- Lead requirements, design, and code reviews.
- Support system-level software and hardware integration.
- Develop and manage software verification activities.
- Lead project task assignments, resource planning, and budget tracking.
- Work closely with customers and external engineering partners.
- Support software development and certification activities.
- Lead or support aerospace software audits and compliance activities.
- Develop software plans and certification documentation.
- Support HIL/SIL testing and system-level verification.
Technical Requirements
Strong understanding and experience in:
- C programming for embedded systems
- Embedded systems and microcontroller architecture
- Control theory, including:
- PID control loops
- Feedback systems
- Control-loop implementation
- Motor-control microcontrollers and/or DSP platforms
- TI C2000
- ADC sampling
- Real-time timing constraints within control loops
- Embedded communication protocols:
- SPI
- I2C
- CAN
- UART
Aerospace & Safety-Critical Experience
Experience with aerospace software development and certification, including:
- DO-178C
- Software requirements and traceability
- Software design and verification
- HIL/SIL testing environments
- Software planning and certification documentation, including:
- PSAC – Plan for Software Aspects of Certification
- SDP – Software Development Plan
- SAS – Software Accomplishment Summary
Leadership & Project Management
- Experience leading embedded software engineering teams.
- Mentoring and developing junior engineers.
- Leading technical reviews and design activities.
- Assigning project tasks and managing engineering resources.
- Project planning and execution.
- Budget tracking and cost management.
- Customer and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work effectively with international engineering teams.
- MATLAB / Simulink
- Simulation and modelling tools

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in one of the following:
- Electrical Engineering
- Software Engineering
- Embedded Systems
- 5–10+ years' experience in embedded software development.
- Demonstrated experience leading software design and verification activities.
- Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams.
- Experience with system-level integration and verification.
- Experience working within safety-critical development environments.
