Job summary

Sterling Engineering Ltd - Ireland & Europe is seeking a Lead Embedded Software Design & Verification Engineer to architect, implement, and verify software for embedded flight control systems from Shannon, Co. Clare.

You will lead a local team while collaborating with international partners. The role requires extensive experience in embedded software development, safety-critical practices, and leadership of engineers, with hands-on work in C and models-based development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Embedded Systems.
• 5–10+ years' experience in embedded software development.
• Experience leading software design and verification activities.
• Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams.
• Experience with system-level integration and verification.
• Experience working within safety-critical development environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, integration, and verification of embedded software for flight control systems.
• Lead and mentor a team of embedded software engineers.
• Develop safety-critical embedded software using C.
• Lead requirements, design, and code reviews.
• Support system-level software and hardware integration.
• Develop and manage software verification activities.
• Lead project task assignments, resource planning, and budget tracking.
• Work closely with customers and external engineering partners.
• Support software development and certification activities.
• Lead or support aerospace software audits and compliance activities.
• Develop software plans and certification documentation.
• Support HIL/SIL testing and system-level verification.
