Job summary

Solas IT Recruitment is assisting an established technology organisation in Limerick to recruit a Senior Embedded Linux Software Engineer. The role focuses on low-level development, secure embedded systems, and engineering across bare-metal, embedded Linux, and Linux kernel domains.

You will design and implement secure software, contribute to architecture and testing, mentor junior engineers, and work in an Agile R&D environment with a strong emphasis on security and reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years embedded software development experience
• Strong programming in Embedded C
• Extensive experience with Embedded Linux, Yocto and Linux Kernel
• Knowledge of ARM-based microcontrollers
• Experience with I2C, SPI and UART
• Knowledge of Secure Boot, RoT and TPM
• Experience with code signing and vulnerability management
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills

Responsibilities

• Design and develop secure Embedded Linux software and firmware
• Contribute to system architecture, technical design and testing strategies
• Develop security functionality across embedded platforms
• Work across bare-metal, firmware and Linux-based environments
• Integrate software with underlying hardware and peripheral devices
• Troubleshoot complex low-level issues and implement robust solutions
• Improve the security, reliability and performance of embedded products
• Collaborate with experienced engineers within an Agile R&D environment
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a Senior Embedded Linux Software Engineer with extensive low-level development experience and a strong understanding of embedded security.

You should have:

• 8+ years' embedded software development experience
• Strong programming skills in Embedded C
• Extensive experience with Embedded Linux, Yocto and the Linux Kernel
• Good knowledge of ARM-based microcontrollers
• Experience with hardware communication protocols including I2C, SPI and UART
• Knowledge of Secure Boot, Hardware Root of Trust (RoT) and TPM
• Experience with code signing, private key/HSM management and vulnerability management
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills
