Job summary

GI Group in Athlone is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to develop world-class 5-axis CNC processes for complex orthopaedic devices. You will lead CAM programming, fixture design, and automation, driving productivity and process capability.

The role demands senior expertise in HyperMILL, multi-axis machining, and manufacturing technology, with a focus on continuous improvement and NPI/DFM collaboration.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years hands-on experience in advanced CNC machining
• Expert in simultaneous 5-axis CNC programming
• Experience in HyperMILL CAM software
• Experience designing machining fixtures using SolidWorks
• Strong GD&T and precision engineering knowledge

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimise, and validate complex 5-axis CNC programs using HyperMILL
• Lead machining strategies for complex orthopaedic geometries to optimise cycle time and surface finish
• Develop CAM templates, post-processing methodologies and programming standards
• Lead machine prove-outs and production process validation
• Mentor CNC programmers and engineers in advanced machining technologies
