Job summary

William Fry LLP is seeking a Licensing Lawyer to support its licensing and regulatory practice across the retail and hospitality sectors, advising clients on licensing requirements, preparing and presenting court applications, and liaising with regulatory authorities.

The role involves working closely with partners and solicitors to deliver technical, commercial, and client‑focused licensing support across a broad client base.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in licensing, regulatory, or legal support within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Comfortable with preparing and presenting licensing applications and dealing with regulatory authorities.
  • Familiar with Irish and/or EU regulatory frameworks relevant to the firm’s clients.
  • Strong academic or professional background in law, compliance, or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience in a top-tier or mid-tier law firm.
  • Experience in transactional or advisory work involving retail and hospitality.

Responsibilities

  • Advising clients on licensing requirements, processes, and compliance obligations across relevant sectors.
  • Preparing and presenting Court applications, reviewing, and managing licence applications, renewals, variations, and transfers on behalf of clients.
  • Drafting correspondences, submissions, and supporting documentation to regulatory authorities.
  • Liaising with regulators, advisers, and third parties to progress applications and resolve issues.
  • Tracking licence conditions, renewal dates, and compliance obligations for clients.
  • Conducting legal and regulatory research to support advisory work across various sectors.
  • Maintaining accurate client files in line with confidentiality and risk‑management procedures.
  • Supporting client relationship management and, where appropriate, business development initiatives.
