Job summary

Matrix Recruitment Group in Ireland is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform quality testing of raw materials and finished products, and collaborate with production teams to ensure high standards are met.

You will capture and maintain accurate test records, set up documented controls, and support R&D with both routine and non-routine activities, including travel off site.

Qualifications

  • Third level qualification (Level 7 or above) in a relevant science or engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in laboratory environments; background in building materials testing is a plus.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 20kg and working outdoors as required.
  • Full driving licence and Safe Pass desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct product and raw material testing and record data accurately
  • Work with production and process teams to resolve quality issues
  • Ensure all activities meet company and EN standards, protocols, and safety guidelines
  • Keep track of equipment calibration and maintain documentary controls
  • Analyse and communicate quality results, noncompliance, and deviations
  • Support R&D projects and cross-departmental initiatives
  • Provide quality training and technical administration support as required
  • Lead and assist with audits and promote continuous improvement and lean practices
  • Maintain a well-organised and safe laboratory workspace

Job description

What You Need to Know:
We have a great opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to get hands‑on with quality testing of raw materials and finished products. You’ll be working closely with other departments, carrying out both laboratory and on‑site testing and ensuring high standards are always met.

Your New Job:
Reporting to management and working with production teams, you’ll capture and maintain accurate test records, set up documented controls, and ensure traceability of products and materials. The role involves both routine and non‑routine activities, including supporting research and development. Regular travel off site and hands‑on work are part of the job.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct product and raw material testing and record data accurately
  • Work with production and process teams to resolve quality issues
  • Ensure all activities meet company and EN standards, protocols, and safety guidelines
  • Keep track of equipment calibration and maintain documentary controls
  • Analyse and communicate quality results, noncompliance, and deviations
  • Support R&D projects and cross-departmental initiatives

  • Maintain a well‑organised and safe laboratory workspace

What Are We Looking For?

  • Third level qualification (Level 7 or above) in a relevant science or engineering field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in laboratory environments; background in building materials testing is a plus
  • Excellent IT skills, including Excel and PowerPoint; familiar with SPC platforms and QI Macros
  • Comfortable lifting up to 20kg and working outdoors as required
  • Full driving licence and Safe Pass desirable
