Jigsaw - The National Centre for Youth Mental Health in Limerick is seeking clinicians to provide short-term therapeutic supports to young people aged 12-25 with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The role involves 1:1 work, family involvement, and collaboration within transdisciplinary teams across 15 services nationwide.

This is a full-time, specific-purpose 3-year contract based in Limerick with occasional home working and a 12-month panel for future opportunities.

Qualifications

• Qualified/registered psychologist or related mental health professional
• Essential: doctorate or equivalent in clinical/counselling/educational psychology or PSI-registered.
• Mental Health Nurse registered with An Bord Altranais or Social Worker registered with CORU or Occupational Therapist registered with CORU or Psychotherapist accredited by ICP or IACP.

Responsibilities

• Undertake initial mental health assessments focusing on strengths and difficulties.
• Provide evidence-informed brief therapeutic interventions.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement risk management plans.
• Participate in clinical supervision and line management.
• Comply with Jigsaw policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Participate in case management and team meetings.
• Liaise with other professionals to support youth mental health.
• Comply with Children First Act 2015 and Jigsaw Child Protection policy.
• Maintain confidential records using the Jigsaw Data System and GDPR compliance.
• Share information with Clinical Manager and stakeholders as appropriate.
• Contribute to research, audit and evaluation of the service.

Position Summary

Jigsaw clinicians offer short-term therapeutic supports to young people aged 12-25 years who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. This usually involves 1:1 work with the young person and sometimes it can include other family members as well. Our clinicians come from diverse professional backgrounds encompassing qualifications in social work, occupational therapy, mental health nursing, clinical/counselling/educational psychology, and psychotherapy, and they work as part of transdisciplinary teams based at one of our 15 services across the country. All of our clinicians share the same scope of practice to support the goals of our young people in a collaborative, respectful, and evidence-informed manner while drawing on their own unique training, experience, and skills. Additionally, clinicians are involved in health promotion, youth engagement, service development, and advocacy. Our clinicians benefit from frequent and supportive clinical supervision alongside a comprehensive programme of continuing professional development.

This is a full-time, specific purpose (3-year) contract, based in our Limerick service. A 12-month panel will also be established from this recruitment campaign for any permanent and fixed-term opportunities that may arise within our Limerick service.

This is a front facing role with daily interactions with Young People and members of the public. Access to home working is occasional and is offered based on responsibilities of the role and the needs of the Service and Young People.

Primary Responsibilities

• To undertake initial mental health assessments with young people focusing on both strengths and difficulties.
• To provide evidence informed brief, therapeutic interventions to young people.
• To conduct risk assessments and implement risk management plans as appropriate.
• To participate in clinical supervision and line management for support and guidance.
• To work in accordance with Jigsaw Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.
• To participate in case management meetings, team meetings and other meetings as deemed necessary.
• To liaise and consult with other professionals in supporting the mental health of young people attending Jigsaw.
• To fulfill obligations as per the Children First Act 2015 and comply with the Jigsaw Child Protection and Welfare policy.
• To maintain accurate, confidential records of practice using the Jigsaw Data System and to cooperate with reporting requirements as per the Jigsaw Record Keeping Policy.
• To comply with responsibilities under the Data Protection Acts 1988, 2003 & 2018 (GDPR).
• To share information with the Jigsaw Clinical Manager, Service Manager, Jigsaw team and other stakeholders, as appropriate in accordance with good practice.
• To contribute to research, audit and evaluation of the service as required.
• To maintain professional and personal boundaries.
• To engage in outreach work as required.
• To demonstrate an open and flexible attitude to work at all times.
• To be flexible regarding working hours in line with the needs of the service, i.e. evenings.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience Required

Essential Criteria

Qualifications & Registration/Accreditation – It is essential that you meet one of the below:

• Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychology and/or Chartered Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychologist through PSI. Candidates qualified overseas must provide evidence of validation by the Department of Health at the time of application.
• Mental Health Nurse registered with An Bord Altranais.
• Social Worker registered with CORU.
• Occupational Therapist registered with CORU.
• Psychotherapist accredited by the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) or the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).

Desirable Criteria

• Experience working in health and social care, therapeutic or related organisational settings supporting people with their mental health needs.
• Experience working therapeutically with young people aged 12-25 years.
• Experience of applying core clinical/therapeutic skills; assessment, formulation, risk management, intervention and evaluation in mental health role/setting.
• Experience of /training in delivering evidence informed mental health interventions, e.g. brief solution focused therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy etc.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management skills and an ability to manage a busy workload.
• Capacity to work co-operatively as part of a team.
• Competent in MS office, Office 365, Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

The salary range for this role will be €40,550 - €62,688.
