Job summary

Cpl Resources is seeking a Systems Analyst for a 12‑month contract in Mayo. The role focuses on understanding business needs and translating them into technical specifications to bridge business needs with technology solutions.

The candidate will gather requirements, create artefacts, support development/QA, and help document the technical architecture under the guidance of the Solution Architect. Strong collaboration across stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience gathering user requirements and translating them into documentation.
• Experience developing project artefacts (Data Dictionaries, API Guides, Release Notes).
• Experience documenting best practices for Systems Analyst roles.
• Experience supporting Architecture in defining and documenting Technical Architecture.
• Experience reviewing third-party artefacts and providing feedback to architects.
• Experience supporting Development and QA teams during solution delivery.
• Knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, MariaDB, MS SQL).
• Knowledge of JSON and XML formats.
• Strong communication in technical and non-technical environments.

Role:

Systems Analyst Type: Contract Length: 12 months Location: Mayo Important: This role is only open to Stamp 4, EU or Irish citizens The Systems Analyst will work in the Technology, Platforms and Solutions directorate and will play a key role in understanding business requirements and translating them into technical specifications, playing a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and technological solutions.

Your Professional Fundamentals:

• Analytical Thinking - Ability to analyse complex problems and develop effective solutions. Evaluate information and assumptions critically to make well-informed technical decisions.
• Technical Acumen - Strong understanding of the different technology layers, from infrastructure to database layer to software applications layer. Proficiency in relevant programming languages and tools.
• Business Acumen- Develop deep understanding of business processes and how they align with technology systems.
• Strong communication skills - Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa. Strong skills in writing technical documentation reports in a clear transparent manner.

Your Responsibilities:

• Be involved in all aspects of the design of IT solutions.
• Gain a good understanding of the business operations and systems.
• Meet with project stakeholders to gather, analyse and translate business and technical requirements into documentation that can be understood by all relevant stakeholders.
• Create artefacts to support project delivery, including user stories, documentation, diagrams, models and other relevant analysis outputs.
• Review third-party artefacts and provide appropriate feedback to the *Solution Architect or other relevant parties.
• Provide support to the Development and QA teams.
• Provide support to the Solution Architect in developing and documenting the Technical Architecture.
• Work with the Solution Architect to determine technical solutions and ensure that they meet business requirements.
• Provide input to project and resource planning, budgeting, and implementation.

Your Experience:

• Experience gathering user requirements and translating them into user stories, including the quality criteria used to ensure that user stories are clear, testable and aligned to business needs.
• Experience developing project artefacts, including Data Dictionaries, API Guides, Release Notes etc.
• Experience documenting best practices and procedure in relation to the Systems Analyst role.
• Experience providing support to Solution Architect / Technical Architect in defining and documenting the Technical Architecture for solutions being delivered.
• Experience reviewing third-party artefacts, providing appropriate feedback to the Solution Architect / Technical Architect or other parties.
• Experience providing support to Development and QA teams during the development and testing of solutions.
• Knowledge of databases including Relational Data Design, using technologies such as MySQL, MariaDB, MS SQL.
• Knowledge of widely used text formats, such as JSON and XML.
• Strong communication skills, in both technical and non-technical environments.
