Job summary

Corlann in County Galway invites applications for one temporary full-time Instructor/Supervisor for REA services based in Loughrea. Candidates should hold a Level 6 qualification in health, have at least 1 year in ID services, possess a full clean Irish

  • Full clean Irish Driver's Licence is essential.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English; strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop day service provision in Loughrea, Co. Galway.
  • Implement educational, social, vocational, recreational and personal development programmes for adults with ID.
  • Provide family support, coordinate social groups and evening activities, and offer one-to-one community supports as required.
  • Act as a key worker to form links and partnerships with community groups.
  • Work with adults with Autism, complex needs and physical disabilities to support personal care, meals and welfare.

CORLANN - WEST REGION POST OF 1 X TEMPORARY FULL-TIME INSTRUCTOR/SUPERVISOR REA SERVICES, LOUGHREA, CO. GALWAY JOB REF:

The Role:

The successful candidates will be involved in the development of a day service provision in Loughrea, County Galway. The successful candidate will also be involved in the implementation of an educational, social, vocational, recreational and personal development programme for adults with an intellectual disability. In line with new directions and extended opening hours the successful candidates will also be responsible for providing family support, coordinating social groups and evening activities and providing one to one supports in the community as required. The successful candidates will also have responsibility in a key worker role for the people supported by the services to form links and interests and partnerships with other community groups. This role will involve working with adults with Autism, complex needs and people with physical disabilities. The instructor will be responsible in supporting individuals with all aspects of personal care required during the day. This includes support with meals, personal hygiene and other related aspects of physical well-being, to the extent required by the individual. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/Team Manager/Service Coordinator/Area Manager Works With: People supported by the services and their families Multidisciplinary Team Team Leader / Team Manager/Service Coordinator / Area Manager Frontline staff GRETB Tutors.

Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
  • Candidates require a level 6 qualification relevant to the health sector.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 1 years' experience working in ID Services.
  • Experience working in day services, designing and implementing programmes to enable them to carry out successfully the duties of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of persons with an intellectual disability.
  • Experience in establishing links with the community and micro enterprises is also an advantage.
  • A full clean manual Irish Driver's Licence is essential.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate flexibility, communication and team-working skills, together with an enthusiasm for the post.
Working Hours:

1 x Temporary Full-Time 78 hours a fortnight 78 hours per fortnight based on a 5-day week duty roster. The normal working hours will be Monday - Friday but may involve weekend work if required to meet the needs of the people we support or Personal Outcomes. Contracted hours of work are liable to change from 8am to 8pm over 7 days to meet the requirements of the programme. Corlann's model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.

Annual Leave:

23 days per annum.

Remuneration:

Department of Health Supervisor/Instructor Consolidated Salary scale June 1st2026 €36,291 x 12 increments - €52,406 per annum.

Tenure:

1 x Temporary, Full -Time and pensionable.

Probation:

A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The Employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer's discretion.
