Job summary

Pontoon Solutions is seeking a Platform Engineer to design and operate scalable AWS-based cloud platforms in a regulated financial services context. You will focus on automation, infrastructure as code, and secure delivery pipelines, working with engineering, security, and operations teams.

You should have hands-on AWS, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes experience, plus a strong grasp of cloud security, networking, IAM, and multi-account architectures.

Job description

Our team is building resilient, secure, and scalable cloud platforms that support the next generation of digital financial applications. We’re looking for a Platform Engineer with hands-on experience in AWS infrastructure and networks to help build and support our cloud-native environments.

In this role, you will work as a key contributor within our cloud platform team, focusing on automation, infrastructure as code, and secure delivery pipelines. You’ll collaborate with engineering, security, and operations teams to deliver well-architected solutions aligned with industry best practices.

• Experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering, including direct experience with AWS.
• Proven experience designing production-grade cloud infrastructure in regulated environments.
• Deep understanding of cloud security, networking, identity and access management, and governance within AWS.
• Advanced knowledge of networking (firewalls, DNS, Load Balancing, Proxies, etc.)
• Proficiency in a scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Shell).
• Experience with continuous integration/delivery pipelines and GitOps workflows.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Experience with multi-account cloud architecture, landing zones, or control tower setups.
• Familiarity with zero-trust architecture, data encryption, and key management systems (KMS).
• Strong proficiency with using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform to build cloud infrastructure solutions and automating cloud deployments.
• Prior experience in financial services, fintech, or other regulated industries.
• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration platforms (e.g., EKS/Kubernetes).
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or Dynatrace, as well as AWS native tools
• Experience optimizing cost and performance across large-scale cloud environments.
• Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in cloud engineering communities.
