Job summary

Central Bank of Ireland in Dublin seeks a Legal Chair to join the Regulatory Decisions Panel, a body established by the Minister for Finance to decide cases managed by the Regulatory Decisions Unit. The role demands at least 15 years’ post‑qualification experience, experience chairing tribunals, and the ability to write clear, concise, and reasoned decisions.

Flexible working arrangements apply; appointments are contract‑for‑services, not employment.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 15 years’ cumulative post‑qualification experience as a practising solicitor, barrister or member of the judiciary.
• Experience in administrative & regulatory law, financial services law, or complex litigation.
• Experience chairing or sitting on tribunals, committees, or similar decision‑making bodies, or as a sitting judge.

Responsibilities

• Provide impartial decision-making on cases referred to the panel.
• Work effectively within a team and foster open, constructive discussions with integrity.
• Produce objective, proportionate and well-reasoned decisions.
• Demonstrate strong IT skills and familiarity with document management systems.
