Job summary

Ashdale Care Ireland seeks a Residential Social Care Worker to support young people with complex needs in a safe, nurturing home environment and to collaborate with families and professionals to promote wellbeing.

You will work shifts with day and night sleep-in duties, participate in trauma-informed care models, and help rebuild lives across Ireland. The role includes training opportunities, flexible working arrangements, and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Full clean driving licence.
• Level 7 qualification (degree) or above in one of the following fields: Social Care; Social Work; Psychology; Health and Social; Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy; Youth & Community; Teaching; Nursing; Social Science; Addiction Counselling; Counselling/Psychotherapy; Family Support; Disability Studies; Applied Behavioural Analysis; Early Years Care; Applied Policing; Higher Certificate in Custodial Care (Irish Prison Service); CORU registration as a Social Care Worker

Responsibilities

• Support shifts: 8–10 hour shifts (e.g., 10am–8pm or 12pm–10pm).
• 18 hour Sleep in shift: 10am–12am; sleep in 12am–7am; paid extra for sleep hours.
• Cultivate caring connections with young people and families with dignity and respect.
• Promote a welcoming, safe, caring, stable and therapeutic environment.
• Advocate for rights and wellbeing of each young person.
• Ensure no abuse occurs and report concerns per policy.
• Supervise outings and daily household activities (cooking, cleaning).
• Active participation in the Model of Therapeutic Care.
• Be physically able to support with challenging behaviours.
• Provide emotional support and involve young people in care and placement planning.
• Integrate trauma-informed practice from Therapeutic Support Team training.
• Collaborate with social workers, educators, guardians and family.
• Maintain records as required by statutory requirements and Ashdale policies.
• Handle daily petty cash and receipts; primary contact for professionals/family/young person.
• Contribute to community engagement and partnerships.
