We are looking for a hydrogeologist to join our team and work at the forefront of managing the challenges of providing resilient and environmentally sustainable water supplies for the future, while ensuring groundwater habitats are protected from new infrastructure development. We are undertaking an increasing number and range of important and exciting projects that involve groundwater resource evaluation, determining 'zone of contribution', and assessing the Environmental impacts on groundwater of new infrastructure. We are working for Group Water Schemes, Uisce Éireann, EirGrid, daa and government regulators. Building on this success, we are growing our team, and this growth could include you. You could help us to win and deliver work across our extensive client portfolio and enhance our reputation for excellence.

As an already experienced, and ideally chartered, hydrogeologist, you will have led and delivered groundwater related project tasks in Ireland, the UK and/or internationally. You will work closely with our technical specialists who are based in our established teams across Ireland and the UK. We have a friendly and approachable team with a strong reputation for delivering excellence with multiple clients.

Your role

  • Win, deliver and manage a portfolio of hydrogeology projects.
  • Develop trusted client relationships.
  • Champion high standards of performance, and influence project development.
  • Undertake work to a high standard, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Undertake and delegate complex problem solving, data gathering, processing, calculations, modelling and conceptualisation.
  • Write high quality reports and impact assessment.
  • Undertake proposal writing and costing.
  • Work closely with other hydrogeologists, sometimes delegating to, reviewing the work of and mentoring more junior staff.
  • Work collaboratively with other technical disciplines.

About you

  • A degree in science, engineering or mathematics.
  • Relevant years of work experience.
  • Demonstrable experience within consultancy, water company, regulator or academic fields.
  • Experience of water resources / hydrogeology.
  • Understanding links between surface and groundwater, abstraction, flooding and low flows.
  • Knowledge of the Water Framework Directive.
  • Experience of assessing and managing groundwater quality issues.
  • Experience of contaminated land and relation to groundwater.
  • Experience of preparing hydrogeology sections for EIAR Water Chapters.
  • Experience of WFD screening, scoping and assessment reports.
  • Knowledge of the operational and environmental regulatory framework of water management in Ireland.
  • A good understanding of hydrogeology, groundwater and aquifers, and in particular the karstic systems, common in Ireland.
  • You will have valid full, clean Irish driving licence.

Desirable skills

  • Chartered or on the way to getting Chartered.
  • Experience of determining Zone of Contribution.
