Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Ireland is seeking an Associate Director in our Water Team to lead multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects across Ireland. You will provide technical and people leadership, shaping design standards, and delivering complex solutions for clients such as Uisce Éireann and UK water companies.

You will collaborate with project managers, guide junior engineers, and contribute to bids while growing the Irish Water Engineering capability.

Qualifications

  • Senior leadership experience in water engineering and infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and complex design deliverables.
  • Proven track record in client advisory and project bid contributions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and people leadership to the Water Engineers team.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on programme, budgets and milestones.
  • Produce, review and approve high-quality technical deliverables.
  • Lead and influence best practice across UK & Ireland network.
  • Grow Water Engineering capability within the Irish business.
  • Mentor junior engineers and advise clients on technical matters.
  • Contribute to bids and proposals and work with multi-disciplinary teams.

We are seeking an energetic and experienced Associate Director to join our Water Team within the AtkinsRéalis Infrastructure business. You will be part of a talented, multi‑disciplinary team delivering cutting‑edge and iconic projects for key water sector clients, including Uisce Éireann, Design & Build contractors, and UK water companies.

As a senior member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering transformational programmes for critical Irish infrastructure, with opportunities to contribute to landmark projects both domestically and internationally. We are committed to delivering industry‑leading solutions across the full project lifecycle, adding value through technical excellence, client‑side advisory roles, and construction‑phase support.

Your role
As An Associate Director, Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Providing technical and people leadership to a team of Water Engineers delivering complex, multi‑disciplinary projects in accordance with national and project‑specific design standards.
  • Working closely with Project Managers to manage programme, budgets, and delivery against key milestones.
  • Taking responsibility for the production, review, and approval of high‑quality technical deliverables, including reports, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work.
  • Acting as a senior technical leader within the discipline across UK & Ireland, influencing best practice, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Growing, developing, and managing Water Engineering capability within the Irish business.
  • Exercising sound professional judgement in complex situations and providing mentorship and guidance to junior and developing engineers.
  • Advising clients and project teams on technical, operational, and strategic matters.
  • Leading or contributing to the technical aspects of bids and proposals.
  • Collaborating with multi‑disciplinary teams across UK, Ireland, and overseas to deliver integrated and sustainable design solutions.
