Job summary

Veolia Ireland is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Water division's design team in Kilkenny. You will develop mechanical equipment selection, hydraulic design, and P&ID planning for water and wastewater projects across the island of Ireland.

Working in a hybrid environment, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, perform design calculations, produce technical specifications, and translate concepts into drawings, ensuring quality and compliance with project

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Mechanical Engineering (Level 7/8/9 or equivalent).
• Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics and hydraulics.
• Experience with pumping systems, pipe networks and hydraulic calculations.
• Desirable Water industry experience; other engineering sectors ok.
• Ability to work on own initiative and coordinate design.
• Practical site experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical design solutions for water and wastewater projects.
• Produce hydraulic design, equipment selections, plant layouts and P&IDs.
• Support end-to-end design projects with the design team.
• Liaise with clients from concept to delivery.
• Produce procurement specifications and detailed construction drawings.
• Coordinate with Process, Draughting, Electrical and Civil/Structural designers.
• Ensure documentation adheres to the Project Quality Plan.
• Act as a point of contact for technical issues throughout projects.
