Job summary

Veolia in Kilkenny is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Water) on a permanent, hybrid basis. You will join the Design Team to work on water and wastewater projects across Ireland, providing technical leadership and design oversight.

Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm, with hybrid onsite arrangements. Expect to lead equipment selection, hydraulic design, and project deliverables while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with cross-discipline teams.

Qualifications

• Level 8/9 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in a mechanical design engineering role, with progression to senior level.
• Substantial experience in Water/Wastewater Treatment Industry, including treatment plant design and pumps/valves.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs for water and wastewater infrastructure, including equipment selection and P&IDs.
• Lead technical design reviews and approve drawings and equipment specs.
• Act as technical authority on mechanical/hydraulic design throughout project lifecycles.
• Perform sizing calculations, hydraulic analysis, and system performance assessments.
• Lead client interactions from concept through delivery and support tender/proposal activity.
• Coordinate with Process, Draughting, Electrical and Civil & Structural Designers.
