Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for an assignment in East Cork. This is a 12-month contract with potential extension, offering a hybrid arrangement (one day working from home, four days on site) with PAYE or LTD options.

The role focuses on design, modification and lifecycle management of mechanical assets, especially rotating equipment and fixed plant assets, supporting Capital Projects, Maintenance, Operations and Technical Services.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering with oil & gas, energy, pharma, chemical processing, or heavy industrial design experience.
• Experience specifying, designing and maintaining rotating equipment and fixed assets.
• Knowledge of asset integrity, reliability engineering, and lifecycle management; familiarity with ASME/API/ISO/EN standards desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical equipment datasheets and technical specifications for rotating and fixed plant assets.
• Generate scopes of work for mechanical contractors and vendors for tendering and procurement with value engineering where appropriate.
• Define mechanical design requirements for capital projects and collaborate on equipment selection, cost estimates, constructability reviews and safety checks.
• Support project management with mechanical input including planning, budgeting, scheduling and reporting.
• Provide technical support to procurement for new equipment, upgrades, and spare parts related to mechanical systems.
• Produce and review P&IDs, equipment layouts, GA drawings, piping isometrics and installation drawings using AutoCAD or equivalent.
• Assist with asset lifecycle management for pumps, compressors, agitators, heat exchangers, tanks and related systems.
• Coordinate mechanical contractors during construction, commissioning and start-up; manage multiple projects with safety and quality in mind.
