Job summary

Planet is scaling AI-first engineering and seeks a Senior AI Developer Experience Engineer to drive AI fluency across Engineering. You will coach teams, pair with developers, and help embed practical AI workflows through internal tooling, templates, and guidance.

The role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on experience with AI-assisted tools, and excellent communication. This hybrid role involves collaborating with Architecture and Platform teams to improve delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with production systems experience
• Hands-on with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Copilot CLI, Cursor, Claude Code
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills to run hands-on workshops across Engineering
• Strong interpersonal skills and human-centric approach to coaching teams
• Credibility with engineers; comfortable pairing with developers and discussing trade-offs
• Experience creating technical content like guides, tutorials, or internal learning material
• Genuine interest in developer experience, productivity, and enabling teams

Responsibilities

• Deliver AI Fluency sessions across Engineering and SDLC roles
• Coach teams to adopt AI and better workflows in practical contexts
• Pair directly with developers to improve adoption using AI tools
• Maintain and improve internal enablement tooling and templates
• Create high-quality enablement content: guides, templates, examples
• Measure AI maturity and scale patterns across teams
• Collaborate with Architecture and Platform teams for alignment
• Capture adoption signals and feed into leadership reporting
• Expand enablement to broader developer experience and toolchains
