Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering is seeking an experienced HV Secondary Design Engineer to join our Power & Renewables team in Ireland. You will design and review HV substation secondary systems, ensuring safety, reliability and compliance with industry standards.

You will prepare wiring designs, protection schematics and panel layouts, while integrating protection with SCADA and automation systems. A collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach and strong problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• HV substation secondary design and protection & control engineering experience.
• Knowledge of testing, commissioning and system integration activities.
• Proficiency in EPLAN, AutoCAD and related engineering tools.
• Strong communication and analytical problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, development and review of HV substation secondary systems for safety and reliability.
• Prepare wiring designs, documentation, panel layouts and protection drawings.
• Develop protection philosophies and logic for safeguarding network assets.
• Integrate protection with SCADA and substation automation systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the project lifecycle.
• Support testing, commissioning and troubleshooting activities.
• Ensure designs comply with IEC/IEEE/ANSI/EirGrid/SONI standards.
