Job summary

Suir Engineering Ltd. invites applications for an HV Commissioner to lead commissioning activities across multiple sites in Ireland.

The role entails coordinating kick-off meetings, reporting defects, and ensuring successful energisation tests, while mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate holds an Electrical Engineering degree or HV-qualified background, with 7+ years of experience, and IT literacy to manage documentation and test equipment.

• IT literacy and willingness to work across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Compile commissioning packs for upcoming projects.

• Complete RFIs and design log management during commissioning.
• Commissioning of HV equipment and protection systems.
• Configure relays, RTU, PLC, meters, and substation automation.

Role Overview

The Commissioner will report to the Commissioning Manager and be involved throughout the process from kick-off meeting to post energisation testing. A key member of the team, he/she will act as a mentor for more junior members of the commissioning team.

What you will be doing

• Compile commissioning packs for upcoming projects
• Attends project commissioning kick off and co-ordination meetings
• Reports equipment defects or calibration issues to commissioning manager
• Completes project RFI/TQ’s during commissioning and manage the design log process.
• Commissioning of primary equipment including instrument transformers, Circuit breakers, Power transformers
• Commissioning of HV protection systems from a wide range of manufacturers including Siemens, ABB, SEL and Schneider.
• Configuration of projection relays, RTU, PLC, Power quality meters, and other substation automation systems
• Completion and submission of redline drawings during commissioning
• Attends FAT tests for equipment when requested
• Ensures all required site modifications are completed and validates as-built drawings
• Completion of commissioning and test documentation throughout project lifespan
• Provides declaration of fitness when commissioning is complete
• Completion of pre and post energisation testing
• Assists junior commissioning engineers with development

Is this job for me?

• Electrical Engineering Degree or qualified electrician with high voltage experience
• 7 years + relevant industry experience
• IT Literacy
• Operational experience with Omicron test equipment is desirable
• Experience of management and safe operation of HV equipment is desirable.
