Job summary

Mergon Group is seeking an HR Administrator to join the HR team in Castlepollard, Westmeath. Reporting to the HR Manager, you will play a central role in building a values-driven workplace and supporting HR operations.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to all areas of HR, work in a busy office environment, and ideally hold an HR qualification with 1–2 years’ HR experience.

Qualifications

  • HR qualification or working towards it
  • 1–2 years’ experience in a similar HR role
  • Excellent administrative, organisational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and professional communication
  • Experience using social media in a professional capacity
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment administration: creating advertisements, scheduling interviews, reference checks
  • Onboarding and induction of new starters
  • Updating HRIS system
  • HR administration related to employee records and correspondence
  • Handling social welfare forms and related tasks
  • Answering HR-related queries and requests
  • Admin support for HR projects and training programmes
  • Coordinate and administer training and development activities
  • Support wellness and social initiatives
  • Report monthly HR metrics
  • Provide guidance to managers on HR policies and procedures

What’s the job?

We are currently looking for a HR Administrator to join our HR team in Castlepollard, Westmeath. Reporting to the HR Manager, your role is central to building a strong, values-driven workplace. You’re not just supporting HR operations—you’re helping shape a culture where people thrive.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience in all areas of HR. The ideal candidate will be used to working in a busy office environment, be HR qualified and have previous experience in a HR role.

Key duties & responsibilities:
  • Recruitment Administration; creating advertisements, scheduling interviews, reference checks, etc
  • Onboarding and Induction of new starters
  • Updating HRIS system
  • HR administration in relation to employee records & employee correspondence
  • Dealing with Social Welfare and related forms
  • Responding to HR related queries and requests
  • Administrative support for HR projects
  • Administration of training and development activities
  • Support Wellness and Social initiatives and activities
  • Reporting monthly HR metrics
  • Providing support to managers, including guidance in relation to HR policies and procedures
What are we looking for?
  • Ideally a HR qualification or working towards same
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Excellent administrative, organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Great communicator with a flexible, optimistic and professional approach.
  • Experience of using social media in a professional capacity
