Job summary

Galway Simon Community is seeking a Housing Support Officer for a Specific Purpose Part-Time role in Galway. The position averages a 30-hour week on a rolling 4-week roster, with a sleep-overs component and liability for nights.

The role involves delivering practical and emotional supports alongside Health Care Assistants to clients with complex needs, aiming for independent living, within a compassionate, community-driven framework.

Qualifications

• Social Care Worker CORU registration or a Level 7 Degree in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of 1 year relevant experience in a similar care role.
• Valid, full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Support clients from all backgrounds in a trauma-informed, harm-reduction approach to implement client support plans that maximise their health, self-care, education, community engagement, home management skills, and overall well-being with the goal of independent living.
• Stay compliant with all organisation policies, mandatory training, and participate in routine maintenance, inspections and cleaning in line with health and safety standards.
• Lead a shift effectively, logging and recording all interventions with and on behalf of clients on relevant systems, in an organized and efficient manner with clear communication within the team.
• Willingness to adapt as needed to support client and service needs.
• Demonstrate the Galway Simon Community values compassion, community and collaboration.
