Job summary

Galway Simon Community is seeking a Housing Support Officer for the Men's High Support Service in Galway. The role involves acting as a key worker alongside Health Care Assistants to support clients with complex care needs, delivering practical and emotional support within their overall plan.

The position is a Specific Purpose Contract, part-time (30 hours/week) on a rolling 4-week roster with a 7-day liability including sleep-overs.

Qualifications

• CORU registration as a Social Care Worker, or a Level 7 degree in a relevant discipline
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a care setting
• Valid, full driving licence

Responsibilities

• Support clients from diverse backgrounds using a calm, trauma-informed, harm-reduction approach to implement client support plans.
• Stay compliant with organisational policies and mandatory training; assist in routine maintenance and safety tasks.
• Lead a shift effectively; log and record interventions on relevant systems; communicate clearly within the team.
• Adapt to evolving service needs to support clients and service delivery.
• Demonstrate Galway Simon Community values of compassion, community and collaboration.

Job Summary

Housing Support Officers act as key workers to clients, alongside Health Care Assistants, with clients that have complex care and support needs, delivering practical and emotional supports to clients as part of their overall support plan.

Key Responsibilities

• Clients - Support clients from all backgrounds and experiences, in a calm, trauma informed, harm-reduction approach to implement client support plans that maximise their health, self-care, education, community engagement, home management skills, and their overall well-being with the goal of independent living.

• Compliance - Stay compliant with all organisation policies, stay up to date on mandatory training, participate in routine maintenance, inspections and cleaning in line with health and safety standards.

• Service Delivery - Ability to lead a shift effectively, systematically log and record all interventions with and behalf of clients on relevant systems, work in an organised and efficient manner with clear communication within the team to deliver high-quality professional service.

• General - Willingness to adapt as needed to support client and service needs.

Essential Requirements

• Qualification -Social Care Worker CORU registration; OR a minimum Level 7 Degree in a relevant discipline, such as healthcare, social care, social sciences, psychology, community development, or other related fields.

• Experience - 2-years relevant experience in a similar role in a care setting.

• Driving -Valid, full driving licence;

Desirable

• Knowledge/Experience of homeless sector.

• Trauma informed approach.
