Job summary

Dublin Simon Community in Dublin City Centre is seeking a Community Integration Officer to support individuals by developing tailored pathways into services, social enterprises, education, training, and employment.

You will align opportunities with each client’s capacity, preferences, strengths, and personal goals, and maintain accurate records and case notes on PASS.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience in a related social care setting or 1-year as a project worker.
• BA/BS degree in psychology, social care, addiction, counselling, youth work, community development, psychotherapy or similar.
• Understanding of homelessness and tenancy needs.
• Ability to support clients independently within a team.
• Experience liaising with local authorities and housing providers.

About the Role

The Community Integration Officer supports individuals to meaningfully participate in their community by developing tailored pathways into services, social enterprises, education, training, and employment. The role focuses on aligning opportunities with each person’s capacity, strengths, preferences, and personal goals, enabling them to build social connections, contribute to their community, and achieve greater inclusion and independence as part of a broader social integration approach.

Contract Type: full-time, permanent

Working Hours: 37.5 hours, 7-day liability (including mornings, days, evenings, and weekends)

Location: Dublin City Centre

Role Responsibilities

• Develop and support tailored pathways into community services, social enterprises, training, education, and employment.
• Align opportunities with each client’s individual capacity, preferences, strengths, and personal development goals.
• Maintain accurate and current records and case notes on PASS and related databases in accordance with SLA requirements.
• Work efficiently and effectively to identify, coordinate, and facilitate meaningful community participation.
• Support individuals to build social connections and fulfil their roles and responsibilities as active community members.
• Promote inclusion, independence, and sustained engagement within the local community and wider society.
• Collaborate with community organisations, service providers, and stakeholders to expand integration opportunities.
• Drive and implement care and case management processes and protocols whilst lone working in client’s home. Carry out risk assessments and follow safeguarding protocols to vulnerable clients and children.
• Attend weekly team meetings, planning days, and function planning days
• Assist the client with access to relevant services e.g. Social Welfare, Primary Care services, Treatment, and Recovery Services.
• Provide emotional and practical support to service users who are exiting homelessness, at risk of homelessness, or entering homeless services. Work from strengths-based perspective to encourage resilience in service users and support them in feeling empowered.
• Facilitate clients to develop positive relationships with their neighbours with best practice and social inclusion model as the basis of this work.
• Record client caseload data and update regularly. Compile statistics, update PASS and Internal IT Systems.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2 years’ experience working in a related social care setting, working with vulnerable clients OR 1-year experience as a project worker
• BA/BS degree in psychology, social care, addiction, counselling, youth work, community development, psychotherapy or similar.
• Understanding of why people become homeless and the needs they have.
• Understanding of supporting clients to settle into their new tenancies.
• Client-focused, solution-focused, adaptable, accountable, resilient individual.
• Experience developing strong relationships, with clients and stakeholders.
• Ability to support clients independently, within the support ofa team.
• Experience of assessing clients' needs in their homes and signposting to community supports.
• Experience of working in the community, with child/family support, and liaising with local authorities and/or other housing providers.
• Experience of lone working
• Awareness of addiction, treatment pathways, and services
• Experience of mobile working in a visiting support capacity.
• Full driver’s license.
