Job summary

The Johnstown Estate is recruiting a Cluster Assistant Financial Controller to support the Financial Controller across The Johnstown Estate and Trim Castle Hotel. This hands-on role covers day-to-day finance, month-end, forecasting, budgeting and audit preparation.

The successful candidate will lead a small finance team, maintain strong controls, and manage competing priorities across two properties with a clear focus on accuracy and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA) with hotel finance experience.
• Minimum 3 years in a hotel finance/accounts role at a similar level.
• Strong understanding of month-end procedures, forecasting and reporting.
• Proven experience with financial controls, reconciliations and reporting.
• Excellent Excel skills, incl. PivotTables and data analysis.
• Experience supervising or supporting a finance team.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines across two properties.

Responsibilities

• Assist day-to-day finance operations across both properties.
• Support Financial Controller with financial controls and procedures.
• Supervise finance team and ensure deadlines are met.
• Complete daily banks reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Review supplier payments in line with controls.
• Assist with purchase ledger processes and timely processing.
• Produce month-end reporting templates and packs.
• Support audits, compliance, and management reporting.
• Assist with systems and process improvements.
