Job summary

Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) in Sligo is seeking a part-time Home Care Assistant to support Members in daily living at their homes and in the community. The role offers up to 30 hours per week with shifts available 8am-11:30am and/or 5pm-10pm, including every second weekend.

The position pays hourly rates ranging from €16.54 to €18.39, with higher rates before 8am, after 8pm, and on Sundays, plus mileage payments and a sick/paternity/maternity pay scheme.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 modules completed of the Major Award at QQI Level 5 in either Community Health Services, Health Service Skills or Healthcare Support or other relevant qualification and a commitment to complete the Major Award.
• Experience of working with people in a caring role (essential).
• Full driver’s licence and access to own car (essential).

Responsibilities

• Enable Members to achieve maximum independence in daily living with support in personal care, domestic tasks, social and educational activities, travel and companionship.
• Deliver care in Members' homes and communities, coordinating with scheduling staff.
